This project began with two founders and a validated concept, and ended with an acquisition by a publicly traded transplant-diagnostics company.
Organ transplantation depends on time-sensitive logistics, yet no integrated platform existed that could track an organ's location, temperature, and physical condition in real time from donor to recipient. The founders knew the problem well. What they did not have was an engineering team.
Fraunhofer USA CMA (CMA) became that team. We designed and built the first full prototype of the platform, integrating GPS, temperature sensors, and impact detection into a single operational dashboard.
The prototype gave the founders the technical credibility to demonstrate the concept to transplant networks and secure institutional funding. The acquisition followed.
Transplant networks and organ procurement organizations get visibility they did not have before. Patients waiting for donor organs are the reason it matters.
